Job description

We are currently recruiting an Applications Operations Engineer to join our Digital, Data and Technology team. This role works on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our Coventry HQ and the remainder working remotely from home, Monday to Friday.

As an Applications Operations Engineer, you will provide second and third-line support for our business-critical applications, ensuring systems operate securely, efficiently and reliably. You will support change and release management activities, maintain integrations and automations and work closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve incidents and enhance application performance.

This position sits at the heart of AHDB’s digital ecosystem, helping to deliver stable, user-focused services while supporting the transition towards more automated, cloud-based applications across our Microsoft 365 and Azure environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, driving continuous improvement and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality digital services.

About AHDB

We are the independent, impartial public body that unlocks success in British agriculture. Funded by a levy from over 100,000 British producers in the beef, lamb, pork, dairy and cereals sectors, we support and champion farmers, growers and processors, often where no one else can or will.

We share the expert, evidence-based research and reports that inform on-farm decision making. We promote British produce to the UK public through domestic marketing campaigns, and we identify and open new global export opportunities to help farm businesses grow.

We help levy payers learn more, sell more and export more to remain sustainable and profitable. Together, we deliver the insights, the influence and the impact that farmers need.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for key business applications, including Dynamics 365, SharePoint and Power Platform
  • Investigate and resolve application incidents, service requests and user issues within agreed service levels
  • Support patching, upgrades, releases and deployment activity, ensuring appropriate testing, rollback plans and documentation are in place
  • Maintain accurate configuration, environment, licensing and integration records
  • Support application integrations using APIs, middleware and low-code tools such as Power Automate and Logic Apps
  • Identify opportunities to streamline business processes through automation and improved workflow design
  • Apply security and access controls in line with AHDB policies and relevant guidance
  • Work closely with internal teams, suppliers and managed service partners to maintain service reliability and support continuous improvement
Essential Criteria
  • Experience supporting enterprise or line-of-business applications in an operational environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 or comparable cloud business systems
  • Experience with Power Platform tools, ideally including Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI or Dataverse
  • Understanding of ITIL service management processes, including incident, change, problem and release
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical audiences

  • Life assurance cover, 4x salary
  • A market-leading defined contribution pension scheme with Legal & General
  • Enhanced pay of 20 weeks for maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, subject to service
  • A paid day each year to volunteer and make a difference in your community
  • Comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme
  • Excellent training and development opportunities and an agreed development plan
