Job summary

Boyd Thermal Solutions Inc. is seeking an engineer to develop thermal and mechanical solutions for customer requirements. You will manage projects, create 3D models and 2D drawings, and liaise with production to ensure a smooth transfer to manufacturing.

The role requires up to 4 years of engineering experience, strong CAD skills, and good communication. Knowledge of CFD is a plus. This is an on-site position in Ashington, UK, with a focus on quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is desirable but not essential.
• Up to 3–4 years engineering experience in a design, development and manufacturing environment.
• Familiar with the use of CAD to generate 3D models and 2D drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as principal point of contact for customers’ engineers.
• Generate thermal management solutions to meet customer requirements, potentially with CFD.
• Manage individual projects allocated from design to prototype build and test.
• Liaise with Production/Manufacturing Engineering to ensure smooth transition into manufacture.
• Support Sales Department function.
• Maintain and archive customer related information as per procedures.
• Comply with Health and Safety requirements and 5S housekeeping.

Job DescriptionPURPOSE OF JOBTo develop innovative thermal/mechanical solutions to resolve customer requirements. Manage Projects and provide engineering support to customers and internal departments to develop innovative technical solutions to meet both customer and BOYD expectations.SPECIFIC DUTIESTo act as principal point of contact for customers’ engineers.Responsible for the generation of thermal management solutions to customer’s requirements, potentially with the benefits of CFD analysis.Managing individual projects allocated. This will involve creating engineering designs using 3D modelling, 2D drawings. Raising PO Requests for materials, equipment and the subsequent responsibility for the prototype build and testTo liaise with Production/Manufacturing Engineering to ensure a smooth transition into manufacture and ensuring that any processes introduced meet Customer requirements.To work with and support the Sales Department functionTo ensure that Customer related information is maintained and archived in accordance with Departmental procedures.To work with due regard to Health and Safety requirements.To ensure that 5S housekeeping targets are achieved in areas of control.To support the Engineering function when other Engineers are not available.QUALIFICATIONSA Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is desirable but not essential.
