Aviva plc in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Application Security Manager (Product Security) to lead a team of Product Security specialists and partner with engineering, architecture and product teams to embed security into the delivery of technology.

You will drive secure-by-design practices, influence Product Security strategy, and champion automation and AI-enabled approaches to improve security outcomes across Aviva’s products throughout their lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Leading and delivering App Security, Product Security, DevSecOps capabilities.
• Work with engineering teams to improve secure software development practices, including threat modelling and security architecture reviews.
• Hands-on knowledge of security tooling and AI-enabled AppSec, plus SAST/DAST/SCA and IaC scanning.

Application Security Manager (Product Security)

Salary: Circa £100,000

Locations: Bristol, Birmingham, Norwich, York, Leeds, Sheffield or Leatherhead

Are you someone who is passionate about building secure products and embedding security into the way technology is delivered?

We're looking for an experienced security leader with a strong background in Application Security, Product Security, or Secure Software Engineering who is excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of Product Security at Aviva.

This role would suit someone who combines technical credibility with people leadership and enjoys working closely with engineering teams to deliver secure-by-design solutions at scale.

A bit about the job

Aviva is evolving its Application Security capability into a modern Product Security function that supports products throughout their lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and operation.

As Application Security Manager (Product Security), you'll lead a team of Product Security specialists and partner with engineering, architecture and product teams to embed security into the way technology is delivered. You'll help drive secure-by-design practices, influence Product Security strategy, and support the adoption of automation and AI-enabled approaches to improve security outcomes across Aviva.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in modernising Product Security across our technology estate, helping ensure our products remain secure, resilient and trusted by millions of customers.

Skills and experience we're looking for

• Strong experience leading and delivering Application Security, Product Security, DevSecOps or Secure Software Engineering capabilities.

• Experience working directly with engineering teams to improve secure software development practices, including threat modelling and security architecture reviews.

• Hands-on knowledge of Product Security and Application Security tooling, including leveraging AI for AppSec alongside traditional SAST, DAST, SCA, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scanning and secrets management/scanning.

• Understanding of cloud-native technologies, CI/CD pipelines, automated security controls and modern software delivery practices.

• Ability to balance business objectives with effective risk management across product development lifecycle
