Aviva is seeking a Cyber Security Engineering Manager to lead our Security Engineering Maintain team and keep Aviva’s technology estate secure. You’ll influence senior stakeholders, shape security controls and drive risk‑based decisions across a complex organisation.

Based in London or Bristol, the role offers regional salary ranges and opportunities to improve cyber security capabilities across Cyber Defence, Technology and Risk teams.

Qualifications

• Experience leading cyber security, security engineering or cyber operations teams within a complex organisation.
• Strong understanding of security controls, risk management and frameworks such as NIST.
• Experience managing or supporting security technologies including EDR, PAM and SIEM platforms, alongside firewall and WAF knowledge.
• Knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud environments and experience in regulated industries (Financial Services).
• Strong stakeholder management and use of KPIs, KRIs to drive performance.

You might already be leading a cyber security engineering, security operations, or cyber defence team and be looking for an opportunity to shape strategy, reduce risk and develop people while working across a modern technology estate.

Working across the heritage Direct Line business within Aviva, you'll help strengthen cyber security capabilities, reduce risk and support the delivery of secure technology transformation.

You'll work closely with teams across Cyber Defence, Technology and Risk, using threat, operational and security insights to prioritise improvements and ensure our controls remain effective against evolving threats.

A bit about the job:

You’ll join heritage Direct Lines Cyber Defence Team and play a key role in helping keep our customers, colleagues and business protected from evolving cyber threats.

Reporting to the Head of Cyber Defence, you’ll lead our Security Engineering Maintain team and make sure the security controls that protect Aviva remain effective, resilient and aligned to risk.

Working alongside colleagues across Cyber Defence and Technology, you’ll help prioritise security improvements, drive operational excellence and strengthen our cyber security capability.

You’ll use threat, vulnerability and operational data to make informed decisions that reduce risk and improve security outcomes across the organisation.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

• Experience leading cyber security, security engineering or cyber operations teams within a complex organisation
• Strong understanding of security controls, risk management and frameworks such as NIST, with the ability to prioritise workloads and make risk-based decisions
• Experience managing or supporting security technologies including EDR, PAM and SIEM platforms, alongside a good understanding of firewall and web application firewall (WAF) technologies
• Knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud environments and experience working within regulated industries such as Financial Services
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience using KPIs, KRIs and operational metrics to drive performance and continuous improvement

• Salary: London Circa £100K , Bristol: Circa £90K depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications)
