Fullers Foods - Careers

Role Purpose

The Application Engineer plays a key role in delivering Fullers' multi-year IT transformation, ensuring our core systems, applications and processes are modern, efficient and fit for the future. Working as part of a growing IT team, the role combines project delivery with business-as-usual support, enabling improvements across critical applications and contributing to the design, development and optimisation of new technical solutions.

The Application Engineer partners with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, translate them into effective system enhancements, and provide expert guidance throughout solution design, implementation and ongoing support. This is a hands-on role where you will shape the technical landscape of Fullers Foods and help build a high-performing, forward-looking IT function.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead the coordination, design and delivery of application improvements, integrations and system transformations, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and align with the IT roadmap.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, translating requirements into technical specifications and ensuring rigorous testing, validation and sign-off throughout each project.
  • Oversee project documentation, governance and review processes, ensuring progress is well-managed, communicated and delivered against agreed timelines.
  • Drive the implementation and integration of new software and technical solutions into the organisation’s systems landscape, ensuring stability, quality and long-term maintainability.
  • Provide expert support across new and existing applications, resolving issues across 1st, 2nd and 3rd line as appropriate and contributing to continuous service improvement.
  • Manage application lifecycles, supporting the transition from legacy tools to modern, scalable technologies and ensuring smooth adoption across the business.
  • Integrate third-party platforms and services into end-to-end IT environments, ensuring compatibility, performance and data integrity.
  • Design and implement new IT services and enhancements that enable improved efficiency, user experience and business capability.
Experience

The experience below reflects our ideal candidate, but you don't need to meet every requirement. We’re open to candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience, strong transferable skills and an aptitude for systems and technology, alongside a willingness to learn and develop.

  • Proven experience in a technical, application or IT engineering role, delivering and supporting business-critical systems.
  • Experience translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information for non-technical stakeholders and end users.
  • Track record of delivering or supporting system implementations, integrations or application enhancements within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships across the business.
  • Experience managing workloads independently, solving technical challenges proactively, and contributing confidently to the successful delivery of projects.
