Job summary

Kyndryl in London is seeking a senior Solutions Architect specializing in mainframe modernization to shape strategy and lead large-scale transformation programs.

You will design frameworks, guide development teams, and ensure architecture aligns with business goals while documenting interfaces and processes. This role demands deep knowledge of z/OS, IBM products, and modern cloud integrations within enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• Architectural experience on large customer change and transformation projects.
• Deep knowledge of hardware and software with connectivity between platforms.
• Master Certified Architect or equivalent preferred.
• Hands-on mainframe experience.
• Experience with Modernize On, Integrate With and Move Off mainframe projects.
• Strong understanding of z/OS and IBM/software ecosystem.

Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. In this strategic role, you’ll use your knowledge of legacy systems and cloud architecture to identify opportunities to modernize mainframe applications.

What you will do

Plan Strategy

• Shape the future: Define, assess, and prioritize modernization roadmaps taking into account cost and risk.

Design Frameworks

• Invent innovative solutions: You'll be responsible for designing cutting-edge software frameworks, systems, and products that will set the standard for the industry. You'll use your extensive technical knowledge to conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes, while also identifying and resolving any framework design weaknesses.

Guide Teams

• Share your knowledge: Use your technical expertise to provide technical leadership to the application development team, perform design and code reviews, and ensure that uniform enterprise-wide application design standards are maintained.
• Achieve business goals: Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure that the architecture is aligned with business requirements, making sure that the project meets its goals.

Document Architecture

• Keep vital records: Create and maintain documentation surrounding the software architecture, application design processes, component integration, testing guidelines, and other key elements.

Who You Are

Required skills and experience

Architectural experience of large customer change and transformation projects

In depth knowledge and experience of hardware and software including connectivity between platforms

Preferred skills and experience

The Open Group - Master Certified Architect (or equivalent)

Prior hands-on experience working in a mainframe environment

Experience in the following types of mainframe projects – Modernize On, Integrate With and Move Off

Strong understanding of z/OS and IBM Software Products as well as 3rd party mainframe software
