Aon shapes decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. When you join us, you’ll become empowered to make the same impact, as you explore ways of becoming a more relevant, connected and valued professional.
Join Aon as an Investment Consulting summer intern and for 9 weeks step into life as a valued member of our elite team of specialists.
Our consultants have been advising employers and governments on their pension schemes and other wealth, totalling around $4 trillion, for over 60 years.
Join us as an investment consulting intern in either our Defined Benefit (DB) Client Group or Defined Contribution (DC) Client Group, helping to advise our clients on everything from setting investment strategies and selection of investment managers to corporate transactions and asset transfers.
Over the internship you could experience:
Whichever team your join, this is your opportunity to immerse yourself in our fast‑paced, inclusive culture and learn from the best.
As an Aon Summer Intern, you will be enrolled onto our award‑winning development programme. Over 9 weeks, you will take part in a wide range of insightful and interactive training and development activities alongside your role, helping you build confidence, broaden your knowledge and develop the skills needed for a future career in consulting. Here are a couple of key elements of our intern development programme:
You do not need to bring every technical skill from day one. With support, feedback and practical experience, you will begin to develop your ability to analyse data, research and improve processes, manage documents and workstreams, contribute to client relationships, and communicate clear, evidence‑based insights through reports, presentations and discussions. As your career progresses, you may also build deeper consulting and analytical expertise, including more advanced techniques where relevant to your assignments.
Our summer internship programme is designed as a potential first step towards a long‑term career with us. Your performance during your internship may lead to an offer for a place on our graduate programme in the same business unit the following year. We encourage you to apply for an internship that aligns with your long‑term interests and career ambitions. By choosing a role that matches your aspirations, you’ll be better positioned to take full advantage of our Launch development programme, which offers comprehensive support for your professional qualification, a level 4 Diploma in Insurance from the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute), and ongoing career growth.
You will also be expected to study towards your Investment Management Certificate (IMC) Professional Qualification. After that, we’ll ask you to choose between taking either the Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) or Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) professional qualification.
If you are interested in our Summer Internship programme and would like to apply, here are some things to help you:
Our Wealth Solutions: Investment teams are based across the UK. All locations offer the same opportunities for learning and career progression and the same financial rewards.
We have Investment Consulting 2027 Summer Intern roles available in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh or Leeds. (If you wish to apply for a role in London, please apply via the London Only role.)
We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. As a new intern, you will spend your 9 weeks in the Aon office or with clients.
If you join us as a graduate after your internship, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression. This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.
As an innovative global leader, we recognize and embrace the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help job seekers be more efficient in their recruitment processes. In fact, Aon is in the business of developing and implementing innovative AI tools that support both colleagues and clients, which you’ll use as an Aon colleague if you join our team.
AI can be a helpful tool for researching Aon, preparing for interviews or refining your CV, it should support, not replace, your own thinking, judgement, skills and experiences. Any application materials you submit should accurately reflect your achievements, capabilities and potential.
We ask that you refrain from using AI when completing assessments or during live or pre-recorded interview processes, which will often include an in-person interview where the technology will not be available to you. Additionally, virtual or in-person interviews should not be recorded or transcribed.
At Aon, we foster a culture of inclusiveness, fairness and transparency. We expect all candidates to embrace these principles in every interaction with us.
We ask candidates to submit one Early Carers application per recruitment cycle. We encourage you to explore our opportunities carefully and apply for the programme or role that best matches your skills, interests and career goals. This helps you focus on submitting your strongest application and ensures we can assess candidates fairly and efficiently.
If, during the selection process, we believe another opportunity at Aon may be a better fit for your experience and aspirations, our recruitment team may discuss alternative options with you.
If you're unsure which programme is right for you, we recommend reviewing the programme information on our careers site or attending one of our events before applying.
Top Tip: Choose the role you’re most excited about, rather than treating a second application as a back‑up option. We want to understand where your genuine interests lie and how you see your future career developing.
