Aon is looking for penultimate-year students to join our Commercial Risk & Reinsurance Summer Internship Programme. You do not need to be an insurance expert on day one. Through our internship, you’ll learn how brokers help clients understand risk, navigate insurance and reinsurance markets, and make better decisions, that support resilience and growth.
You will build the skills, confidence and market knowledge needed to translate complex risk exposures into structured insurance programs and serve as a credible intermediary between clients and insurers.
Aon’s Commercial Risk team helps organizations around the world identify, understand, and manage the risks that could impact their people, assets, and performance. We partner with clients across industries to design and deliver innovative risk and insurance solutions - from property and casualty to cyber and specialty risks - using data, analytics, and deep market insight to help them make better decisions and protect their business.
Aon’s Reinsurance team works with insurance companies and other risk bearing organizations to design reinsurance and capital solutions that strengthen their balance sheets and support profitable growth. By combining analytical expertise, market knowledge, and global reach, we help clients transfer risk, access capital, and respond to emerging challenges such as natural catastrophes, climate risk, and changing regulatory environments.
You’ll join either our Commercial Risk or Reinsurance team and support colleagues with research, analysis and the preparation of clear, accurate client and market materials. As your knowledge develops, you may help organise and review policy files, submissions and placement records, and contribute to account and renewal activity.
You’ll gain insight into the lifecycle of our business, including how risks are assessed, presented to the market and supported through placement and claims activity. During the internship, you will begin developing business communication and data and risk analysis skills, while learning how colleagues approach document review, exposure assessment and market analysis in a commercial environment.
We’ll give you meaningful responsibility with appropriate support. Over time, you will learn how colleagues coordinate workflows across teams and use AI-enabled tools alongside human expertise. You will also develop the judgement to translate business, client and risk context into relevant outputs before information is used to support recommendations or decisions.
As an Aon Summer Intern, you will be enrolled onto our award-winning development programme. For 9 weeks you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of insightful and interactive training and development activities in addition to your role. Here are the key elements of our 9-week Internship development programme:
Our summer internship programme is designed as a potential first step towards a long-term career with us. Your performance during your internship may lead to an offer for a place on our graduate programme in the same business unit the following year. We encourage you to apply for an internship that aligns with your long-term interests and career ambitions. By choosing a role that matches your aspirations, you’ll be better positioned to take full advantage of our Launch development programme, which offers comprehensive support for your professional qualification, a level 4 Diploma in Insurance from the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute), and ongoing career growth.
We have opportunities this year in the following locations: London
We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. During your 9 weeks as an intern, you will be based in the Aon office or working with clients.
After your internship, if you join us as a graduate, you will spend the first 6 months in the office. This period supports your learning, development, and progression. This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.
We know applying for your first role can be exciting, and sometimes a little daunting. At Aon, we’re committed to making our recruitment process as transparent and supportive as possible. Here’s how our selection journey works, and what you can expect at each stage:
As an innovative global leader, we recognize and embrace the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help job seekers be more efficient in their recruitment processes. In fact, Aon develops and implements innovative AI tools that support both associates and customers. You will use these tools as an Aon colleague when you become part of our team.
AI can be a helpful tool for researching Aon, preparing for interviews or refining your CV, it should support, not replace, your own thinking, judgement, skills and experiences. Any application materials you submit should accurately reflect your achievements, capabilities and potential.
We ask that you refrain from using AI when completing assessments or during live or pre-recorded interview processes, which will often include an in-person interview where the technology will not be available to you. Additionally, virtual or in-person interviews should not be recorded or transcribed.
At Aon, we foster a culture of inclusiveness, fairness and transparency. We expect all candidates to embrace these principles in every interaction with us.
We ask candidates to submit one Early Carers application per recruitment cycle. We encourage you to explore our opportunities carefully and apply for the position or opportunity that best matches your skills, passions, and professional aspirations. This helps you focus on submitting your strongest application and ensures we can assess candidates fairly and efficiently.
If we believe another role at Aon matches your experience and aspirations more closely during recruitment, our team may present alternative opportunities.
If you're unsure which programme is right for you, we recommend reviewing the programme information on our careers site or attending one of our events before applying.
Top Tip: Choose the role you're most excited about, rather than treating a second application as a back-up option. We want to understand where your genuine interests lie and how you see your future career developing.
