At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
Aon’s Wealth Solutions: Retirement teams help organisations make better decisions about pensions, retirement programmes and long-term financial commitments. In the UK, companies hold significant assets in pension schemes and must plan carefully to meet their obligations over many years. Our actuarial consultants advise trustees and employers on defined benefit pension schemes, helping them understand funding positions, manage financial and operational risks and prepare for the future.
As an Aon Summer Intern, you will work alongside experienced colleagues, earn as you learn and explore what a career as an actuary could look like. You do not need to be an actuarial expert on day one. Through structured learning and hands‑on experience, you will begin developing the quantitative, consulting and communication skills used to help clients understand and manage financial risk.
Technology, including AI‑enabled tools and global delivery teams, increasingly supports routine data preparation, reconciliation and baseline calculation. This allows actuarial colleagues to focus earlier on validation, output checking, report drafting and documentation, while elevating the work towards assumption‑setting, scenario analysis, methodology communication and client value. During your internship, you will learn to use digital tools thoughtfully, including framing clear prompts, refining outputs and checking AI‑supported analysis before it is used to support client work.
No two days are the same. You will work across a range of client teams, supporting colleagues who advise either the trustees responsible for pension schemes or the companies that sponsor them. You will gain hands‑on actuarial experience while developing your understanding of how data, models, clients and strategy come together to bring value.
Our aim is to help you understand the potential career path ahead while giving you real responsibility on client projects. Through classroom‑based and on‑the‑job learning, you will develop your technical and consulting skills, including key calculations, communication, project management, commercial awareness and the effective use of AI‑enabled and global delivery workflows.
You may also gain exposure to specialist areas, depending on business need, such as:
As an Aon Summer Intern, you will take part in a structured development experience that combines meaningful work, business learning, skills development and relationship‑building across Aon. It is built around three core elements:
Our summer internship is designed as a potential first step towards a long‑term career with us. Your performance during the internship may lead to an offer for a place on our graduate programme in the same business area the following year. We encourage you to apply for an internship that aligns with your longer‑term interests and career ambitions. If you later join Aon as a graduate, you will have access to the structured development, technical training and support associated with that graduate role, including support towards the relevant actuarial qualification.
Our Wealth Solutions: Pensions teams are based across the UK. All locations offer the same opportunities for learning and career progression and the same financial rewards.
Birmingham, Bristol, Epsom, Farnborough, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester or St Albans
We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. As a new intern, you will spend your 9 weeks in the Aon office or with clients.
If you join us as a graduate after your internship, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression. This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.
We know applying for your first internship role can be exciting, and sometimes a little daunting. At Aon, we’re committed to making our recruitment process as transparent and supportive as possible. Here’s how our selection journey works, and what you can expect at each stage:
As an innovative global leader, we recognize and embrace the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help job seekers be more efficient in their recruitment processes. In fact, Aon is in the business of developing and implementing innovative AI tools that support both colleagues and clients, which you’ll use as an Aon colleague if you join our team.
AI can be a helpful tool for researching Aon, preparing for interviews or refining your CV, it should support, not replace, your own thinking, judgement, skills and experiences. Any application materials you submit should accurately reflect your achievements, capabilities and potential.
We ask that you refrain from using AI when completing assessments or during live or pre‑recorded interview processes, which will often include an in‑person interview where the technology will not be available to you. Additionally, virtual or in‑person interviews should not be recorded or transcribed.
At Aon, we foster a culture of inclusiveness, fairness and transparency. We expect all candidates to embrace these principles in every interaction with us.
We ask candidates to submit one Early Carers application per recruitment cycle. We encourage you to explore our opportunities carefully and apply for the programme or role that best matches your skills, interests and career goals. This helps you focus on submitting your strongest application and ensures we can assess candidates fairly and efficiently.
If, during the selection process, we believe another opportunity at Aon may be a better fit for your experience and aspirations, our recruitment team may discuss alternative options with you.
If you're unsure which programme is right for you, we recommend reviewing the programme information on our careers site or attending one of our events before applying.
Top Tip: Choose the role you're most excited about, rather than treating a second application as a back‑up option. We want to understand where your genuine interests lie and how you see your future career developing.
Graduates@aon.co.uk. Good luck and we look forward to seeing what you can bring to Aon!
