Job summary

Kingdom Local Authority Support is recruiting a Community Safety Street Intervention Officer in Birmingham. The role provides a proactive authority presence across Birmingham’s communities, focusing on early intervention, prevention, and enforcement of anti-social behaviour (ASB) through the Engage, Educate, Enforce approach.

Hours are 37.5 per week with shifts from 06:00 to 22:00, 5 days out of 7. Salary is £14.50 per hour, weekly pay, immediate start.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs including English and Maths or demonstrable ability at this level.
  • Significant experience in customer service and enforcement/ASB environments.
  • Experience working in partnership-based settings.
  • Strong investigative, written, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communicator and team player.
  • Ability to apply legislation and produce reports.
  • Willing to work outside normal hours, including on-call duties.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-visibility patrols to deter ASB and increase community safety.
  • Investigate ASB reports and enforce legislation using delegated powers.
  • Engage with communities and partners to address complex needs.
  • Support initiatives targeting car cruising, off-road biking, and ASB in parks.
  • Collaborate with youth services and internal teams to reduce crime.
  • Provide evidence for legal proceedings and maintain records.
  • Deliver advice on community safety and crime prevention.
  • Work jointly with Police, CCTV and other agencies to respond to incidents.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations.
  • Contribute to service planning, monitoring and continuous improvement.

Job Purpose

To provide a proactive and visible authority presence across Birmingham's communities, enhancing residents' quality of life and promoting safer, stronger neighbourhoods. The role focuses on early intervention, prevention, and enforcement of anti-social behaviour (ASB), including breaches of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), through the Council's 'Engage, Educate, Enforce' approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-visibility patrols to deter ASB and increase community safety.
  • Investigate ASB reports and enforce legislation using delegated powers (e.g., FPNs, CPNs, injunctions).
  • Engage with communities and partners to address complex needs and promote inclusion.
  • Support initiatives targeting car cruising, off-road biking, and ASB in parks and estates.
  • Collaborate with youth services and internal teams to reduce crime and intolerance.
  • Provide evidence for legal proceedings and maintain accurate records.
  • Deliver advice on community safety and crime prevention.
  • Work jointly with Police, CCTV, and other agencies to respond to incidents and deliver safety initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations.
  • Contribute to service planning, monitoring, and continuous improvement
Education/Qualifications
  • GCSE's including English and Math's or able to demonstrate ability to work at this level through experience
  • Having or being willing to work towards possessing an additional relevant qualification e.g. ASB/Criminal law, enforcement etc.
Experience
  • Significant experience in customer service and enforcement/ASB environments.
  • Experience working in partnership-based settings.
