Prifysgol Aberystwyth University seeks an Animal Technician to support the schistosomiasis drug discovery project. You will maintain animal housing, handle mice, propagate parasites, and assist in efficacy trials using the Roboworm platform, under supervision of senior staff.

The role requires strict biosecurity practices, meticulous record-keeping, and occasional after-hours work. Collaboration with PDRAs and researchers across disciplines is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering substances via diverse routes to mice.
• Experience sampling tissues from mice.
• Understanding of risk assessment & COSHH paperwork.
• Interest in preclinical drug discovery.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Organised with meticulous record keeping.
• Willingness for occasional out-of-hours duties.
• Ability to work bilingually in a Welsh-English environment.

Responsabilités

• Maintain animal housing facilities and Schistosoma mansoni lifecycle in mice and snails.
• Operate Roboworm Platform and assist in parasite screening and data collection.
• Support day-to-day lab operations and supervise students as needed.
• Assist in drug discovery efficacy trials and lab work across milestones.
