Job summary

UKRI - UK Research and Innovation is seeking a dedicated technician to provide high quality husbandry and experimental support at the Mary Lyon Centre, Harwell. You will ensure animals receive proper care, maintain records, and follow SOPs under supervision.

The role requires attention to detail, teamwork and compliance with Home Office procedures, with a 36-hour week and a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2028. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Essential: 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above.
• Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 Diploma in Laboratory Animal Science and Technology required.
• Home Office Licence required to fulfil duties.

Responsibilities

• Check health and welfare of experimental mice.
• Clean and water animal cages.
• Address welfare needs of mouse colonies.
• Maintain cleanliness in animal rooms.
• Keep computerised records.
• Read and follow SOPs and risk assessments.
• Take samples for genotyping.
