Job summary

UK Mission Enterprise Limited is seeking an Animal Carer (Permanent) to join our team in the United Kingdom. You will care for dogs, cats and rabbits, maintain cleanliness of cages and habitats, and ensure animals are well fed, exercised, groomed, and healthy.

The role requires hands-on experience with animals, a relevant care qualification, a valid UK driving licence, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role working with animals.
• Relevant animal care qualification.

Responsibilities

• Feed animals regularly with correct quantities.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of cages and habitats.
• Wash and clean food/water bowls, blankets and beds.
• Ensure dogs and other animals are exercised daily.
• Bathe, brush and groom animals to keep them clean.
• Check animals for illness and seek veterinary care when needed.
• Administer medicines per veterinarian instructions.
• Keep stock of animal-related items and restock as needed.
• Liaise with local pet shops and suppliers.
• Supervise the Assistant Animal Carer to ensure service quality.
• Inform Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager of relevant matters.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and company procedures.
• Provide cover for colleagues during absences.
• Perform any additional tasks requested by management.

Key Responsibilities

• Feed animals including dogs, cats, and rabbits regularly with the correct food quantities.
• Maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards in all indoor and outdoor cages and habitats.
• Wash and clean all food and water bowls, blankets, and beds regularly.
• Ensure all animals, particularly dogs, are exercised and played with regularly.
• Bathe, brush, and groom animals to ensure they are clean and presentable.
• Check animals for injury or sickness regularly and take ill animals to a veterinarian promptly.
• Administer medicines or treatments to animals that are unwell according to veterinarian instructions.
• Keep an adequate supply of animal-related items and maintain stock levels.
• Establish relationships and liaise with local pet shops and suppliers.
• Supervise the Assistant Animal Carer to ensure a high level of service.
• Communicate relevant information to the Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager.
• Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, particularly regarding health and safety.
• Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
• Any tasks or responsibilities as requested by management within the scope of the position.
