Job summary

Admiral Insurance Plc’s Veygo unit is hiring an Android Engineer to build an Android experience for young drivers, focusing on fast, reliable, and useful features. You'll develop and release Kotlin-based apps, collaborating with experienced engineers.

You’ll own features end-to-end, work with Product, Design, Backend, and QA, implement tests, and explore AI-assisted tools to improve quality while maintaining good engineering judgement. Hybrid Cardiff office.

Qualifications

• Practical experience developing and releasing Android applications.
• Working proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with a good understanding of Android frameworks and APIs.
• Familiarity with modern Android architecture, including ViewModels, coroutines and Flow.
• Experience integrating APIs and handling data within mobile applications.
• Experience writing automated tests, debugging issues and using Git in a collaborative development environment.
• An understanding of CI/CD and mobile release processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android features using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and established architecture patterns.
• Work on API integration, data handling, networking and caching, with support on more complex offline and sync requirements.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend Engineering and QA to understand customer needs and deliver well‑tested features.
• Write clean, maintainable code and automated tests, taking part in code reviews and acting on feedback.
• Investigate bugs, crashes and performance issues, helping improve app reliability and customer experience.
• Contribute to releases and improvements to tooling, documentation and development practices.
