Job summary

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an Anatomical Pathology Technologist to join the Mortuary and Bereavement Services team based primarily at Peterborough City Hospital, with occasional travel to Hinchingbrooke Hospital. A trainee Band 5 pathway may be considered, with in-house training while working towards the RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Science.

Qualifications

• Anatomical pathology technologist qualification or trainee capacity
• Ability to work with bereaved families and sensitive post-death care
• Ability to coordinate post-mortem examinations and mortuary records

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the admission, storage and release of patients
• Arrange and prepare patients for relative visitation
• Monitor the condition of deceased patients and implement appropriate care measures
• Prepare pregnancy loss cases for shared cremation or disposal arrangements
• Facilitate/accommodate organ/body donation requests
• Assist with patient identification and post-mortem scheduling
• Liaise with the coronial service and pathologists
• Create and maintain accurate mortuary records and documentation
