Job summary

A Biomedical support worker position is available in Swansea within the pathology department, working under supervision to support mortuary activities. The locum role involves following approved methods and QA protocols, recording admissions, and handling sensitive functions with care.

Qualifications

• Record admission of bodies to the mortuary and manage valuables.
• Book-in and record deaths (foetal, stillbirth and neonatal) as required and follow procedures.

• Release bodies from the mortuary to undertakers following strict protocols.

About you:

An opportunity has arisen for a biomedical support worker in Swansea, to work under supervision within the pathology department undertaking tasks delegated by the Mortuary Manager in accordance with theapproved methods and quality assurance protocols.

Key Responsibilities/Requirements:

• To record the admission of bodies (adult and children) to the mortuary including checks of identity and physical condition of the deceased plus recording of valuables and property.
• Book-in products of conception, foetal, stillbirth and neonatal deaths onto the Pathology LIMS system.
• Release of bodies from the mortuary into care of undertakers following a strict protocol.
• Access to Health Assured (mental health and wellbeing support).
• First access to shifts with the ability to block book shifts in advance.
