Job summary

Sentinel is seeking an Analytics Engineer in Cardiff (hybrid) to support the central Data Team in delivering trusted data products for sustainability and ESG reporting. You will bridge environmental/compliance with the technical data team, building data infrastructure and reporting that underpins climate targets.

Responsibilities include building data models, pipelines, and Power BI dashboards, ensuring data quality, and enabling clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven analytics engineering experience bridging data engineering and analytics.
• Experience designing analytical data models including fact/dimension tables.
• Hands-on data pipeline development and query optimization.
• Strong SQL skills and modern data env (Snowflake desirable).
• BI/reporting delivery to non-technical audiences.

About the Role

Our client, a midsize manufacturing business, is looking for an Analytics Engineer to support their central Data Team in the delivery of trusted data products for the organisation's sustainability and ESG reporting. You'll sit between the environmental/compliance function and the technical data team, building the data infrastructure and reporting that underpins their climate and sustainability targets.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain analytical data models, including fact and dimension tables, to support trusted reporting and analytics
• Develop, optimise and maintain data pipelines, transformations and queries
• Own data quality across analytical layers, ensuring consistency, integrity, traceability and documentation
• Support integration of data from operational source systems into analytical environments
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports delivering clear, actionable insights
• Translate business questions into well-defined analytical metrics, measures and visualisations
• Act as a bridge between technical data teams and business users, for both project work and BAU

Requirements

• Proven experience in analytics engineering or a similar role at the intersection of data engineering and analytics
• Experience designing and maintaining analytical data models, including fact and dimension tables
• Hands-on experience developing and optimising data pipelines, transformations and queries
• Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data environments (Snowflake experience desirable)
• Strong experience delivering BI and reporting solutions, including Power BI dashboards for non-technical audiences
• Strong communicator, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
