Job summary

Hiscox is seeking an Analytics Engineer in York to design and maintain trusted analytical assets for reporting and decision-making. You will collaborate with stakeholders and the data team to translate business problems into data-driven solutions, taking projects from discovery to production support in a growing analytics community.

The role requires strong BI, data modelling and cloud data platform experience, with exposure to Power BI or Fabric, SQL, Python and Git-based deployment workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BI, data analytics or data visualization.
• Expertise with modern analytics platforms (Power BI or Fabric; also Tableau, Qlik, Looker).
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Fabric, Databricks, GCP).
• Advanced T-SQL skills.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows.
• Strong data visualization and data modelling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable analytical data models and curated datasets.
• Build data pipelines, reports and dashboards for reliable, decision-ready information.
• Define and maintain governed metrics and semantic models across reports.
• Ensure analytical data products remain accurate and reliable.
• Use Git and CI/CD to develop, test and deploy analytics code.
• Document activities, data assets, lineage and access controls.
• Optimize data models, transformations and queries for performance and cost.
• Engage stakeholders to elicit requirements and build dashboards and reports.
• Act as an internal consultant for impactful dashboards and analytics solutions.
• Promote analytics best practices across the Group.
