Job summary

Sainsbury's is seeking an Analytics Engineer to transform data into trusted, accessible insights that drive decision-making across the business. You’ll design, build and maintain scalable data models, pipelines and reporting-ready datasets powering analytics and operational reporting.

You’ll work with SQL, DBT and cloud platforms to deliver reliable, well-structured data solutions, partnering with Product Managers, Analysts and Data Engineers to ensure data accuracy, governance and availability

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills and experience building analytical datasets.
• Commercial experience using DBT to develop data transformations.
• Good understanding of data modelling principles (dimensional modelling).
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and modern data warehousing practices.
• Experience with Git or version control.
• Knowledge of data quality, testing and validation approaches.
• Ability to work in Agile delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust data models using DBT and SQL.
• Develop and optimise data transformations for analytics and reporting.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure scalable data pipelines.
• Support data quality monitoring, testing and validation processes.
• Contribute to documentation, governance and best practices across the analytics platform.
• Partner with Product Managers, Analysts and Engineers to deliver business value.
• Investigate data issues and drive dataset improvements.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes and engineering standards.
