Job summary

Intertek, a global leader in quality and safety, seeks a Laboratory Technician to support the day-to-day operation of a busy analytical laboratory in the UK. You will perform analytical testing, prepare reports, and ensure work aligns with client requirements and UKAS standards.

You will work alongside experienced scientists, contribute to mentoring junior staff, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Degree/HNC in a related scientific subject is preferred.
• Experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory is desirable.
• Proficiency in gas chromatography techniques (GC and MS) preferred.
• Strong organisational skills to meet priorities with minimal supervision.
• Good time management and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing in the laboratory in line with approved standards and client instructions.
• Collate sample analysis results and prepare final reports for proofreading and client distribution.
• Provide report sign-off as required and act as a company representative to clients and professional bodies.
• Support training and mentoring of junior staff in routine analytical techniques.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and foster a collaborative team environment.
