Job summary

Jobtailor in Cambridge is seeking a motivated undergraduate to join our pharmaceutical analytics team for a 1-year industry placement starting September 2027. You will work on analytical methods across HPLC, GC, LC-MS and spectroscopy, collaborating with chemists, engineers and external partners on drug development projects.

You will gain hands-on experience with chromatographic, spectroscopic and hyphenated techniques while following GMP/GLP standards and contributing to project timelines.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemistry or a related discipline such as Natural Sciences.
• Opportunity to spend 1 year in industry starting in September 2027.
• Able to commit to 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on campus.
• Cover letter highlighting scholarships, publications, lab experience or extracurricular activities demonstrating leadership and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Deliver analytical understanding to support the development of life-changing medicines.
• Deliver analytical activities to meet project development timelines.
• Collaborate with synthetic chemists, formulation scientists, engineers and external partners.
• Support pharmaceutical drug development using innovative analytical techniques.
• Gain exposure to chromatographic techniques including HPLC, GC, CE and SFC.
• Gain exposure to spectroscopic techniques including NMR, UV and FTIR.
• Gain exposure to hyphenated techniques including LC-MS and GC-MS.
• Use other analytical techniques including ICP-OES and XRPD.
• Perform work according to SHE, quality and compliance standards, including GMP and GLP.
• Present work to others and engage with the wider network through Employee Resource Groups.
