Job summary

BW ESS is seeking an Analyst to support the commercial, investment and development activity behind UK BESS projects. The role focuses on financial modelling, project and market analysis, investment materials, and direct support to live negotiations.

Your focus will be the UK, with opportunities to work across the BW ESS footprint and interact with internal and external stakeholders to drive value and informed decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience in investment banking, consultancy, infrastructure, energy, or project finance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Data analysis, financial modelling and report preparation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Entrepreneurial, hands-on mindset and interest in energy markets.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain project financial models for UK BESS projects.
• Assess valuations, returns, sensitivities and risks.
• Evaluate project feasibility across commercial, technical, regulatory and market dimensions.
• Produce clear analysis, reports and presentations for decision-making.
• Support commercial negotiations with partners, suppliers, financiers and advisors.

The Role

As Analyst, you will support the commercial, investment and development activity behind BW ESS’s UK BESS projects. The work spans financial modelling, project and market analysis, investment materials, and direct support to live negotiations.

Your focus will be the UK, but you will also have the opportunity to work across the wider BW ESS footprint.

What You’ll Do

• Financial modelling and investment analysis. Build and maintain project models; assess valuations, returns, sensitivities and risks.
• Project and market assessment. Evaluate project feasibility and performance across commercial, technical, regulatory and market dimensions, while building a strong understanding of the UK power market.
• Reporting and presentations. Produce clear, high‑quality analysis, reports and presentations, turning complex data into decision‑ready recommendations.
• Commercial support. Support commercial negotiation activity with development partners, key suppliers, financial institutions, and technical, legal and market advisors.
• Stakeholder collaboration. Work with internal and external stakeholders to analyse project performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for strategic decision‑making.

What You’ll Bring

• Background in investment banking, consultancy, infrastructure, energy, project finance or a similarly analytical commercial environment
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
• Data analysis, financial modelling and report preparation skills
• Strong proficiency with AI tools and a clear interest in using them responsibly and effectively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of project finance and investment analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Entrepreneurial, hands‑on and can‑do mindset
• Experience or demonstrated interest in energy, renewable energy, infrastructure or power markets
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, Mathematics or a related field

Nice to have

Exposure to BESS, power markets or infrastructure transactions; experience in the UK market.
