Job summary

Thrings, a leading UK law firm, seeks an AML Manager for its Bristol-based Quality & Risk team. You will lead the AML function, drive improvements, and shape policies across client inception, due diligence and sanctions compliance.

Your role includes managing the Work Acceptance Team, ensuring high standards, data quality, and effective audits, with travel to Bath, Swindon, and other offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience managing AML/CDD in a law firm or financial services environment.
• Expert knowledge of AML regulations with ability to analyse complex documentation and make informed recommendations.
• Proven experience of leading and developing a team.
• Strong analytical, organisational and IT skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Degree-qualified; AML qualifications or solicitor status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the AML function within the Quality & Risk team.
• Manage, develop and support the Work Acceptance Team for high performance and continuous improvement.
• Oversee AML policies, processes and controls, providing guidance on due diligence, sanctions, and PEPs.
• Maintain client/matter data quality, including cleansing, reporting and audits.
• Manage third-party AML screening and identity verification systems; ensure effectiveness.
• Drive process improvements and contribute to strategic AML initiatives; maintain procedures and training.
• Role includes regular travel to Bath and Swindon and occasional travel to other offices.
