Job summary

thebigword is seeking qualified Amharic interpreters to provide telephone interpreting services. You will work on remote assignments across the United Kingdom, including evenings and weekends, with no travel or pre-booking required.

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and provide Proof of Identity, Proof of Address, a valid DBS, and relevant interpreting qualifications (Community Interpreting Certificate, DPSI or DPI). Experience hours should be demonstrated.

Qualifications

• Proficient Amharic interpretation skills for telephone-based work.
• Relevant interpreting qualifications (Certificate/DPSI/DPI) or equivalent degree.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote Amharic telephone interpreting services.
• Maintain a strong and consistent flow of assignments.
• Support clients across essential services over the phone.

Amharic Telephone Interpreting Assignments

thebigword has been providing high-quality telephone interpreting services for over 20 years, handling more than 24 million minutes of calls annually. We offer flexible remote telephone interpreting assignments throughout the day, including evenings and weekends, with no travel or pre-booking required.

Our clients include the Justice Sector, Healthcare, Emergency Services, Local Authorities, Immigration Services, and Police Forces.

We are currently seeking qualified Amharic interpreters to provide telephone interpreting services, with a strong and consistent flow of assignments.

Please note: We are onboarding interpreters within the UK only. Applicants must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom. We are currently not onboarding candidates outside the UK.

To be considered, you must provide:

1. Proof of Identity (Passport)
2. Proof of Address (Bank Statement, Utility Bill issued within the last 6 months, or Driving Licence)
3. Valid DBS Certificate
4. Relevant Qualification (Community Interpreting Certificate, DPSI, DPI, or a language-related degree)
5. Proof of Right to Work in the UK
6. Evidence of Interpreting Experience (Proof of Hours)

Peak call volumes:
08:00 to 17:00 (GMT), Monday to Friday
