Job summary

EMED Group is seeking an Ambulance Care Assistant (Renal) to join our ambulance crews based in Guildford. The role focuses on transporting renal patients to medical appointments and between facilities, while providing empathetic, patient-centered care.

This full-time position operates on a rotating 6 days on/6 days off schedule with shifts from 05:30 to 01:00. DBS check is required; driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid UK manual driving licence.
• Be able to work flexible shifts across 06:00–00:00, Monday to Sunday.
• Effective communicator in emotionally challenging situations.
• Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
• Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).

Responsibilities

• Transport renal patients to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
• Build rapport with patients and their relatives.
• Assist with lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the ambulance.
• Hand over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres or to family/friends at home.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant (Renal) to serve your local community and join the Ambulance Service as part of our Ambulance crews based in Guildford.

Your main responsibility will be transporting renal patients to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This is a full-time role working 6 days on, 6 days off with shifts scheduled between 05:30am and 01:00am. Shifts will be on a rota. Please only apply if you can work these hours.

To be considered as an ACA, you will need to be:

• Hold a valid UK manual driving licence.
• Be able to work flexible shifts. Our operational hours are between06:00am and 00:00am, Monday to Sunday so you will need to work various shifts within these hours (with notice)
• An effective communicator and experience of communicating with others in what can often be emotional circumstances.
• Be physically fit for patient handling and moving.
• Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).

Other duties include:

• Assisting in the transportation of 'end of life' service users, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times.
• Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
• Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
• Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes
