Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant (Renal) to serve your local community and join the Ambulance Service as part of our Ambulance crews based in Guildford.

An Ambulance Care Assistant (Renal) is a rewarding role where each day you help someone in need, making their lives easier, and gaining a sense of achievement from making a difference.

Your main responsibility will be transporting renal patients to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This role offers a chance for individuals passionate about making a difference and developing healthcare skills.

This is a full-time role working 6 days on, 6 days off (13-hour shifts) between 06:00 and 00:00. Shifts are scheduled on a rota. Please only apply if you can work these hours.

To be considered:

  • Valid UK manual driving licence
  • Ability to work flexible shifts within operational hours
  • Effective communication skills, especially in emotional situations
  • Physical fitness for patient handling
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded)

Other duties include:

  • Transporting 'end of life' patients with empathy
  • Building rapport with patients and families
  • Lifting and securing patients in the ambulance
  • Handover of patients at treatment centres or to families
