Job description

FREC3 Qualified Ambulance Care Assistant - Casual
  • Location: Based at 1 Hermitage Court, Maidstone ME16 9NT
  • Contract type: Casual
  • Hours: Zero hours, as and when required
  • Salary: £12.60 per hour
  • Driving: Full UK Driving Licence required, held for a minimum of 2 years, to drive a manual gearbox British Red Cross vehicle.
  • Qualifications: A Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC3) is essential. Additional training within the British Red Cross scope of practice will be provided prior to start, with training starting July 2025.
  • Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts working Monday to Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team supporting Patient Transport and Clinical Services on a casual basis.

A Day in the Life of an Ambulance Care Assistant
  • You will work as part of a team responsible for providing patient transport in a safe, comfortable, and sympathetic manner, observing road and driving conditions at all times. The role involves driving and assisting as part of a crew, with patients of varying mobility needs.
  • You must demonstrate a person-centred approach to care.
  • Possess a positive, can-do attitude. Be kind, caring, considerate, and work well within a diverse team.
  • Your warm, caring nature and positive attitude will bring comfort to patients.
  • Be sensitive when working with vulnerable people and willing to go the extra mile to ensure their comfort, safety, and care.

Previous customer service experience and an understanding of the physical needs of service users will help you serve your community effectively.

Requirements
  • A full driving licence allowing you to operate a manual transmission vehicle (held for at least two years).
  • Qualified to FREC3, which is essential.
  • Strong customer service or patient caring skills.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to problem-solve.

Workwear is provided. Interviews will include a driving assessment. The closing date for applications is 27th May 2025. Early applications are encouraged as the advert may close early.
