Chase & Holland is recruiting for an Assistant Accountant role in Grimsby, supporting the finance team within a growing energy and asset management environment. The role covers management accounts, journals, reconciliations, VAT returns and annual audit support.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in an assistant accountant or similar role, strong Excel and Office skills, and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach to add value across the accounting function.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Confident communicating with colleagues across the business.
• Proactive approach with attention to detail and a desire to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Preparing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Managing bank reconciliations, cash forecasting and weekly supplier payment runs.
• Processing sales invoices, credit control activities and purchase ledger transactions.
• Supporting VAT returns and statutory financial reporting.
• Maintaining fixed asset registers.
• Assisting with year-end audit and statutory accounts preparation.
• Supporting financial modelling and ad hoc finance projects.
