Do you want to work in a job which makes a difference to the local community and the people who live there? Working for the City of Doncaster Council as an Ambition Coach could be perfect for you.

We believe that every person facing a learning barrier should have the opportunity to reach their full potential through meaningful work in their local community. Our core purpose is to create inclusive, sustainable employment opportunities that empower individuals and strengthen our communities.

As an Ambition Coach, you’ll be part of a passionate and collaborative team that works together to deliver high-quality, person-centred support. We are guided by the values of inclusion, respect, empowerment, and partnership, and we are committed to making employment a realistic and achievable goal for everyone we support.

You’ll work alongside colleagues, employers, and community partners to help adults with a learning disability and/or who are neurodiverse move towards and into paid employment. Together, we follow the 5-stage Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) to ensure every candidate’s journey is structured, strengths-based, and tailored to their individual aspirations.

Duties Include
  • Working with vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, neurodiversity, or other barriers to employment.
  • Understanding the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) and a willingness to undertake training in the 5-stage model.
  • The ability to build trust and rapport with candidates, families, and employers.
  • Managing a caseload, delivering regular coaching sessions, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of employability skills such as CV writing, interview techniques, and job searching strategies.
  • Experience or confidence in providing job coaching in real workplace settings to support candidates in becoming independent.
  • Team working skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across services and contribute to shared planning and outcomes.
  • Being organised with the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion to promote independence and wellbeing through employment.
  • Use of digital tools for communication and accurate record-keeping.
  • Flexibility to travel across Doncaster to meet candidates and employers in community and workplace settings.
  • This role is hybrid working, typically involving 3 days in the office subject to service requirements.
  • We value a range of experience and skills. If you have transferrable skills from other roles or voluntary work, we encourage you to apply.
