Job summary

AO in Fareham is seeking an on‑site Operations Assistant to help keep our vehicles safe, compliant and ready to deliver great service. You’ll load, secure and check loads, support maintenance, and coordinate with engineers and contractors to keep our fleet moving.

The role follows an AM shift and is full‑time and permanent. We value hands‑on teamwork, proactive problem‑solving, clear communication and a customer‑focused approach.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of safe loading and transport compliance.
• Strong delivery-monitoring and quick problem-solving skills.
• Clear, confident communication and handovers.
• Hands-on team player who organises tasks and supports colleagues.
• Basic vehicle maintenance know-how and arranging timely services.
• Engages drivers professionally and builds positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Ensure every vehicle is loaded safely, secure, and compliant with transport rules.
• Monitor deliveries and intervene quickly when changes are needed.
• Support new starters with Safe Systems of Work and Health & Safety basics.
• Share priorities and ensure clear handovers across the team.
• Collaborate to split tasks and keep operations moving smoothly.
• Carry out alcohol testing when required for safety and compliance.
• Book servicing and handle small vehicle repairs as needed.
• Engage drivers, answer questions, and resolve issues professionally.
• Tranship and reload vehicles to maintain flow, complete internal reports on time.
