Job summary

HSB Technical is seeking an experienced Aluminium Welder / Fabricator for a Poole-based role on a marine engineering project. The position is a contract, initial four months, with a 50-hour week and a competitive hourly rate.

The ideal candidate will weld aluminium using MIG and MMA, read technical drawings, and work in a workshop and on-site environment. Prior marine or shipyard exposure is highly beneficial.

• Experience as Welder/Fabricator with aluminium welding.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Marine/shipbuilding experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MIG and MMA welding on aluminium and steel.
• Fabricate components from technical drawings.
• Work with aluminium and steel to the required specifications.
• Inspect welds and fabrications for quality.
• Carry out welding and fabrication work safely in workshop and site.
• Support wider marine engineering tasks as needed.

Duties and responsibilities of the Aluminium Welder / Fabricator

• Carrying out MIG and MMA welding on aluminium and steel components.
• Fabricating components and structures from technical drawings.
• Working with aluminium and steel materials to the required specifications.
• Inspecting completed welds and fabrications to ensure they meet the required quality standards.
• Carrying out welding and fabrication work safely and efficiently within workshop and site-based environments.
• Supporting wider marine engineering and fabrication tasks when required.
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship across all projects.

Qualifications and requirements for the Aluminium Welder / Fabricator

• Previous experience working as a Welder / Fabricator.
• Strong and proven aluminium welding experience.
• Competent in MIG and MMA welding.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Previous marine, shipbuilding or boatyard experience would be highly beneficial.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Able to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

Working Hours & Package

• £21.00 - £24.00 per hour.
• 50 hours per week.
• Initial 4-month contract.
