Job summary

ABM in Bristol is seeking a versatile bus driver to transport airport and airline passengers between transfer points. The role operates on a 24/7 rotating shift pattern, with weekends and holidays included and full training provided.

You must hold a full UK driving licence, pass an airside pass, communicate clearly in English, and be flexible to work across ABM sites. The position requires customer service focus and safe driving of various vehicles.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK driving licence with no more than three points.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Able to obtain and maintain an Airside Pass and airside driving Permit.
• Excellent people and communication skills required.
• Flexible to work alternate locations and additional shifts on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, efficient bus transport for airport passengers between transfer points.
• Operate various vehicles including minibuses and Ambi fleet; full training provided.
• Work mainly airside and be willing to operate in other areas as needed.
• Utilise automated job allocation and recording system; training provided.
• Complete daily Vehicle Check Sheets and report any vehicle issues per procedure.
• Drive safely in proximity to aircraft and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Potentially perform Customer Care Agent duties in terminal when required.
• Update the allocator on job progress and comply with Bristol Airport requirements.

Shifts & Pay

Shifts: 4 on 4 off

Pay rate: £14.35 per hour

Overview

Working hours & shift pattern: Working part of full-time on a rotating shift pattern that will vary with the needs of the business. Shifts cover a 24‑hour period, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Working weekends, bank holidays and holiday periods will be required as necessary.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, efficient and effective bus transportation of airport & airline passengers (ground staff, crew members and other client groups) between designated transfer points. The job is performed in buses that do not require a PCV licence.
• Perform other driving duties as required, including high lifts, minibuses and PRM vehicles. Full training will be provided for all vehicles.
• Operate mainly airside, with willingness to work in any areas the business deems necessary.
• Embrace technical innovations and use an automated job allocation and recording system. Full training will be provided.
• Complete the daily Vehicle Check Sheet, maintain operational reliability of the vehicle, and report any defaults in line with the Vehicle Inspection procedure.
• Drive company vehicles ensuring safety and security at all times.
• Drive vehicles across both the Cobus contract and the PRM contract, encompassing minibuses, AMBI vehicles, buses and any other required vehicle. Full training will be provided.
• Operate the vehicle safely within close proximity to aircraft.
• Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle at all times.
• May be required to complete Customer Care Agent duties within the terminal when demand requires, including escorting passengers through the terminal/security and boarding flights or meeting arriving flights and assisting PRMs through to baggage reclaim.
• Update the allocator on progress of jobs at all times.
• Observe all Bristol Airport airside driving requirements.
• Promote a safe and secure environment at all times.
• Undertake any other duties reasonably required.

Person Specification

• A full UK driving licence with no more than three points endorsed and maintaining regular reports for inspection.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to pass and maintain an Airside Pass and airside driving Permit, including competency checks where necessary. Requires a full 5‑year work history, right to work in the UK and a DBS check.
• Excellent people and communication skills.
• Positive proactive "can do" attitude.
• Flexibility to work in alternate locations, including on short notice.
• Flexibility to work in different departments within ABM.
• Flexibility to work additional shifts for ad hoc demand and duty cover; local catchment area advantageous.
