Job summary

Serco Group is seeking an Engineering Structures Technician at RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, Oxfordshire. The role focuses on structural assessments, repairs, and fabrication for the C-17 Globemaster, with on-site work in the workshop and on aircraft.

Two-week specialist aircraft hand-skills course provided, plus on-the-job training covering riveting, tolerances, and sheet metal fabrication. Security clearance required; UK resident for last 5 years advised.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in mechanical, structural, fabrication, or precision engineering.
• Aircraft environment experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Candidates should have a recognised engineering qualification or relevant military course.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural and mechanical assessments and fault finding.
• Perform engineering repairs including component changes and fabrication.
• Operate workshop machinery and fabrication equipment.
• Interpret drawings, specs and manuals to ensure compliance.
• Use IT systems to access data, update records and manage workflows.
• Produce accurate engineering documentation with full traceability.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver high-quality outputs and meet airworthiness standards.
