Job summary

Babcock is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance teams at RAF Valley, Anglesey, Isle of Anglesey, Wales. You will supervise maintenance activities, provide technical guidance, and ensure airworthiness and safety in a fast-paced environment.

The role is on-site, 36 hours per week with an early shift pattern (Mon-Thu 06:00–13:45; Fri 06:00–13:15). Requires an Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent and BPSS clearance.

The role

As an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be a key member of our aviation team, leading and supervising aircraft maintenance activities in a fast-paced operational environment. You'll provide technical expertise, oversee maintenance delivery, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with airworthiness requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced aviation professional to take on a position of authority within the organisation. You'll be responsible for supporting operational flying programmes, supervising maintenance teams, diagnosing complex aircraft faults, and ensuring the highest standards of flight safety and aircraft availability.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Supervising aircraft maintenance, fault rectification and diagnostic activities to support operational flying requirements.
  • Analysing aircraft system and component performance, identifying faults and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved technical documentation.
  • Maintaining team competence, providing technical guidance and escalating issues where required.
  • Supporting compliance activities including tooling, test equipment and maintenance organisation procedures.

This role is based on site at RAF Valley working 36 hours per week, operating an early shift pattern. Monday to Thursday 06:00 to 13:45 and Friday 06:00 to 13:15.

Essential experience of the Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor
  • Experience supervising aircraft maintenance activities within a military or civilian aviation environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic experience across aircraft systems and components.
  • Ability to work from and interpret approved technical documentation.
  • Experience operating within a regulated aviation maintenance environment.
  • Proven commitment to airworthiness, flight safety and engineering excellence.
Qualifications for the Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or a recognised military equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, NVQ Level 3 in an aeronautical discipline, or equivalent qualification.
  • Aircraft platform training.
  • Quality and Air Safety Management Systems training.
  • Hawk or fast jet aircraft experience would be advantageous.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
