Job Summary

Due to an exciting period of growth, we are now seeking a number of certified Aircraft Fitters to join the team in our Defence manufacturing facilities on the Isle of Wight.

Our Fitters are responsible for carrying out standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance with Work Instructions and/or Standard Operating Procedures, prioritizing safety at all times.

Working as part of a close team, communication, flexibility, and availability to work all shift patterns and overtime as required are essential.

You will actively identify safety concerns, report problems immediately to your TL, and suggest improvements (Kaizen).

You will be part of a team working towards creating a 'Great Place To Work' through continuous improvement, safety, and open dialogue.

You will be supported by your Team Leader (TL), who will facilitate your training and coaching.

Job Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Working on a wide range of aircraft main and sub-assemblies, employing appropriate assembly techniques, tools, and fixtures, in accordance with technical data and competencies.
  • Reading and understanding drawings, processes, and procedures to meet regulatory quality standards and customer specifications, including assembly of composite and metallic structures.
  • Completing tasks to high standards, in compliance with work standards and training, and reporting issues immediately.
  • Following all health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Understanding and contributing to team KPIs related to People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost.
  • Becoming certified at the Lean Foundation level and implementing at least one Kaizen per month.
  • Supporting problem-solving efforts and contributing ideas based on own experience.
  • Promoting a collaborative team environment and embodying company culture principles.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including export controls and contracting policies.

Job Qualifications

Suitable candidates will:

  • Be experienced aircraft fitters with 2-4 years of apprenticeship or relevant certification, capable of reading drawings and working within assembly areas to meet standards.
  • Have a strong sense of pride in quality work.
  • Be friendly, collaborative, and effective communicators.
  • Be safety-conscious and eligible to work in the UK.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC), which generally requires residency in the UK for at least 5 years.
