Job Summary

Due to an exciting period of growth, we are seeking certified Aircraft Fitters to join our Defence manufacturing facilities on the Isle of Wight.

Our Fitters carry out standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance with Work Instructions and/or Standard Operating Procedures, prioritizing safety for themselves and colleagues.

Working as part of a team, communication, flexibility, and availability for shifts and overtime are essential.

You will actively identify safety concerns, report problems to your TL, and suggest improvements (Kaizen).

You will contribute to creating a 'Great Place To Work' through continuous improvement, safety, and open dialogue.

You will be supported by your Team Leader (TL) with training and coaching.

Job Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Working on aircraft main and sub-assemblies, embracing appropriate assembly techniques, tools, and fixtures, according to technical data and competencies.
  • Reading and understanding drawings, processes, and procedures to meet regulatory quality standards and customer specifications, including assembly of Composite and Metallic structures.
  • Performing tasks to high standards, in compliance with work instructions and training, and reporting issues immediately.
  • Following all safety, health, and environmental policies and standards.
  • Understanding and contributing to team KPIs related to People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost.
  • Becoming certified at the Lean Foundation level and implementing at least one Kaizen per month.
  • Supporting problem-solving and contributing ideas based on experience.
  • Promoting a positive team environment and embodying GKNA culture principles.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including US Government contracting policies and export controls.

Job Qualifications

Suitable candidates will:

  • Have 2-4 years of experience as aircraft fitters, supported by relevant apprenticeship or certification, with the ability to read drawings and work within assembly areas meeting quality standards for both Composite and Metallic structures.
  • Be proud of their work with a focus on quality.
  • Be friendly, collaborative, and a good communicator.
  • Be safety-conscious and eligible to work in the UK.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE this position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC), which typically requires residency in the UK for at least 5 years.
