Job Summary

Due to growth, we seek certified Aircraft Fitters to join our Defence manufacturing facilities on the Isle of Wight.

Fitters carry out standard activities per Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, prioritizing safety for themselves and colleagues.

Effective communication, flexibility, and willingness to work shift patterns and overtime are essential.

You will actively identify safety issues, report problems to your TL, and suggest improvements (Kaizen).

You will contribute to creating a 'Great Place To Work' through continuous improvement, safety, and open dialogue.

Your Team Leader will support your training and coaching.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work on various aircraft assemblies, employing appropriate techniques, tools, and fixtures, following technical data and competencies.
  • Read and interpret drawings, processes, and procedures to meet quality standards and customer specifications, working with composite and metallic structures.
  • Perform tasks to the highest standards, adhering to work instructions, and promptly report safety or quality issues.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Understand and contribute to team KPIs related to People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost.
  • Obtain Lean Foundation certification and implement at least one Kaizen per month.
  • Support problem-solving efforts and contribute ideas based on experience.
  • Promote team engagement and support a positive work culture.
  • Adhere to GKNA culture principles and legal/regulatory requirements, including export controls and US government contracting policies.
Job Qualifications
  • Experienced aircraft fitters with 2-4 years of apprenticeship or relevant certification, capable of reading technical drawings and working with composite and metallic structures.
  • Strong pride in quality work, collaborative attitude, effective communication, and safety focus.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Note: UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC) is required, typically necessitating residency in the UK for at least 5 years.
