Job summary

Vibe Recruit is seeking an experienced Aircraft/Airframe Technician for a permanent role in St Athan, South Wales. You will oversee and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in line with customer requirements and listed work orders.

The ideal candidate has an aviation or mechanical engineering apprenticeship, a strong background in aircraft systems, and familiarity with maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in aviation or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's (Maths and English Language) at grade C or above.
  • Initial Human Factors, EWIS & Fuel Tank Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft maintenance in accordance with customer requirements and Lists of Work.
  • Adhere to Company procedures and use correctly maintained tools, calibration equipment.
  • Mentor and develop colleagues while maintaining safety and efficiency in hangar operations.
  • Ensure maintenance documentation is completed in MOE Part 2 compliance and Company procedures.
  • Notify Engineers promptly of issues affecting safety, productivity, or progress of work.

Aircraft/Airframe Technician

St Athan, South Wales. Permanent £41,515.34 per annum, plus £3,000.00 seasonal shift allowance per annum

We are looking to recruit an experienced Aircraft Technician for a permanent role with our client based in St Athan, South Wales.

Role Summary

You will apply your aircraft expertise to oversee and perform all maintenance activities, both scheduled and unscheduled, in line with our customers' operational

Main responsibilities
  • Perform aircraft maintenance in accordance with customer requirements and defined Lists of Work.
  • Adhere to Company procedures and Human Factors principles, ensuring the use of correctly maintained, uniquely identified personal tools, Company tooling, and calibrated test equipment.
  • Manage effective internal and external relationships with customers, team members, and support departments, while actively mentoring and developing colleagues.
  • Ensure all maintenance documentation and forms are accurately completed and submitted before the end of the shift, in full compliance with MOE Part 2 and Company procedures.
  • Promptly notify Engineers of any issues that may impact safety, productivity, or the progress of work.
  • Accountability for safety & efficiency improvements with hanger maintenance and general tasks.
  • Process and return any unused materials to Stores as soon as practicable, ensuring correct disposal procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain proper storage, blanking, labelling, and protection of aircraft components and tooling in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Uphold standard engineering practices related to workplace organisation, cleanliness, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to working conditions, practices, and procedures to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Assist with hangar facility maintenance and general operational tasks as required.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably requested in support of business needs.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
  • Proven track record, typically achieved with 3 years minimum experience in aviation maintenance (including time served during an apprenticeship) within a Part 145 organisation.
  • Ability to use recognised aircraft documentation, including the Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Demonstrates a broad skill‑set in maintaining aircraft systems including rigging, component replacement, and modification embodiment.
Essential Knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of aircraft system(s).
  • Good structural knowledge including ability to carry out structural repairs.
Qualifications and training
Essential
  • Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in aviation or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English Language.
  • Initial Human Factors, EWIS & Fuel Tank Safety.
Desirable
  • B1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence: UK CAA AML or EASA AML issued pre 31/12/2020; or UK CAA AML & EASA AML issued post 31/12/2020.
  • Aircraft type course on any of the following: B737NG B737CL B757 B767 A320 family.
