Job summary

General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited is recruiting for a product-security engineering role embedded in a defence programme. You will embed security into complex airborne mission systems, lead architecture decisions and drive secure-by-design practices across the lifecycle.

Collaborating with systems, software, hardware and safety teams, you will assess threats, guide risk reduction and engage with customers and assurance bodies. A degree in engineering/CS or equivalent is expected.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading product-security or systems-security architecture for complex engineered products.
• Knowledge of Secure by Design principles and standards in defence/aerospace safety-critical environments.
• Strong experience defining security requirements and secure-by-design approaches at system/product level.
• Experience leading threat modelling, security risk assessment and vulnerability-analysis activities.
• Experience providing technical leadership and security-architecture decisions across multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of cryptographic principles and their practical application in secure products/systems.
• Experience engaging with customers/partners/assurance stakeholders on security matters.
• Ability to translate security threats into practical engineering requirements and design decisions.
• Degree-level qualification in engineering, computer science, cyber security or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the product-security architecture for complex airborne mission systems.
• Define the security strategy, requirements and secure-by-design approach across the programme lifecycle.
• Lead threat modelling, vulnerability analysis, security risk assessment and accreditation activities.
• Provide technical authority and informed security advice across systems, software and hardware engineering.
• Make and communicate proportionate security decisions balancing operational capability and risk.
• Lead engagement with customers, programme partners and assurance stakeholders.
• Review security evidence and ensure designs and mitigations meet assurance outcomes.
• Coach and guide security and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Drive adoption of consistent product-security methods, tools and best practices across the programme
