Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems in the UK is seeking a product and systems security engineer to embed security into complex airborne mission systems as part of the GCAP programme. You will develop security requirements, conduct threat modelling, support secure architectures, and produce evidence for accreditation, collaborating with systems, software, hardware, safety, and certification engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience in product security or security assurance within a complex engineering environment.
• Knowledge of Secure by Design principles and relevant product and systems security standards.
• Experience undertaking security risk assessments, threat modelling, vulnerability analysis or security requirements development.
• Ability to interpret technical designs and communicate security risks and mitigations to multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience producing clear technical documentation and security assurance evidence.
• Degree-level qualification in engineering, computer science, cyber security or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience within aerospace, defence, safety-critical systems or another highly regulated sector.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain security requirements for complex airborne electronic and mission-computing systems.
• Undertake threat modelling, vulnerability analysis and security risk assessments throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Support the development of security architectures and secure-by-design solutions.
• Produce the security evidence, documentation and assurance arguments needed to support accreditation.
• Work closely with systems, software, hardware, safety and certification engineers to ensure security is embedded within the overall product design.
• Review proposed designs and identify security weaknesses, risks and proportionate mitigations.
• Engage with customers, partners and internal engineering teams on product-security requirements and technical decisions.
• Contribute to the development of technologies that will support future combat-air capability.
