Job summary

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Statistics or related field.
• Essential: deep learning, software engineering, and strong mathematical skills.
• Desirable: experience in weather, environmental forecasting, spatio-temporal modelling, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement modular AI forecasting systems for sub-seasonal weather predictions.
• Integrate data encoders/ processors and decoders with remote sensing and numerical weather prediction inputs.
• Collaborate with UK and African partners for testing and operationalizing AI approaches; may involve travel.
• Teaching may be required as part of collaborative work.
