Job summary

Manchester Metropolitan University seeks a proactive AI technical specialist to join the Digital Arts team within Technical Services. You will support AI and software development across teaching labs, studios and resource centres, enabling industry-standard skills and reproducible deployment.

You will work with Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow and Hugging Face, manage GPU compute systems, and maintain reproducible environments (Docker, Conda, Jupyter, Git) to support students and academics.

Qualifications

• Experience developing AI models in lab or teaching environments.
• Ability to set up reproducible workflows and compute environments.
• Strong background in Python and AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical support to the School of Digital Arts (SODA) and related labs.
• Manage studio spaces, workshops, and resource centres.
• Support delivery of Technical Skills Sessions to students and staff.
• Contribute to AI model development and deployment workflows.
• Demonstrate and teach best practices in reproducible research and software delivery.
