Job summary

Deloitte is seeking a Software AI Engineer on a contract basis in London, with hybrid work requiring 3–4 days in the client office. The role focuses on AI-powered software engineering, building scalable, production-ready AI solutions for a financial services context.

You will develop AI agents and copilots, design and implement retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and work across Python, APIs, data platforms, and cloud-native tech in a collaborative, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Strong Python proficiency; familiarity with Java, TypeScript or SQL.
• Experience integrating APIs, microservices and event-driven apps.
• Knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering and AI agent frameworks.
• Experience with Apache Spark and large data processing.
• Understanding of CI/CD, testing, security and resilience.
• Proficient with cloud-native tech, containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience in Agile development and secure software practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain AI-powered applications using Python.
• Build APIs, agent tools and MCP servers to connect AI with enterprise systems.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, including ingestion, embeddings, indexing and retrieval.
• Build data processing pipelines with Databricks and Spark.
• Support ML models via MLOps pipelines and CI/CD.
• Create user-facing AI interfaces with streaming and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Implement automated testing and AI model evaluations for quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot performance and ensure secure, scalable cloud-native apps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI solutions.
