Job summary

SII UK is seeking an AI Software Engineer to develop AI-enabled software solutions using Python, Generative AI and LLMs in a modern engineering environment. You will build automation, integration, and scalable REST APIs, microservices and SDKs, collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders across the UK.

The role emphasizes production-quality code, testing and performance optimisations. Five strategic offices across the UK support customer delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Python development experience.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs or AI-powered applications.
• Understanding of agentic AI and ideally MCP.
• Experience integrating AI models and cloud-based AI services.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, web services and microservices.
• Knowledge of Git, automated testing, clean coding and software design patterns.
• Understanding of data pipelines and data management.
• Experience developing production-quality software within an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI-powered applications and automation frameworks using Python.
• Build intelligent agents and workflows using LLMs, MCP and agent-based architectures.
• Integrate foundation models through cloud-based AI platforms.
• Develop prompt engineering, AI evaluation and guardrail frameworks.
• Build and maintain data processing and validation pipelines.
• Design scalable REST APIs, web services, microservices and SDKs.
• Develop clean, reusable and well-tested production-quality code.
• Troubleshoot and optimise software performance, reliability and automation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and technical stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
