digiLab, a formative AI company, seeks an AI Scientist to advance foundational AI and ML capabilities. Working with senior scientists, you will perform experiments, modelling, and exploration to progress innovative approaches.

This is a growth-oriented role designed to deepen technical depth and domain understanding through hands-on research and collaboration. Location is on-site at digiLab offices in Exeter, Bristol, or London, with opportunities to publish and contribute to open-source

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in a STEM field.
• Foundational knowledge of AI, ML, and statistical modelling.
• Proficient in Python with ML frameworks and scientific computing tools.
• Understanding of experimental design, model evaluation, and reproducibility.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication for scientific collaboration.
• Demonstrated curiosity and motivation to tackle real-world problems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to scientific research through experimentation, analysis, and modelling implementations.
• Develop and test AI models, algorithms, and tools for data-driven problems across domains.
• Serve as technical lead in areas of expertise to test and apply research ideas.
• Collaborate with theLab to explore new research directions and enhance shared AI/ML capabilities.
• Produce high-quality, reproducible research artefacts including code and experiments.
• Follow best practices in software engineering, testing, and CI to ensure robustness.
• Publish research outputs in journals and present at conferences; share models in open source.
