ALTEN is seeking an experienced AI Research Lead in the UK to drive R&D at the intersection of AI, simulation, and engineering. You will lead design, evaluation, and deployment of AI capabilities from concept to production.

The role bridges academic research with industrial applications, translating advanced AI techniques into scalable, production-ready solutions and supporting Digital Twin initiatives within multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• PhD in Mechanical/ Aerospace/ Computational/ Applied Math/ AI, or related field.
• Strong academic or industrial research background.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D at AI, simulation, and mechanical engineering intersection.
• Develop AI-enabled engineering simulation capabilities.
• Support Digital Twin development and deployment.
• Apply ML to improve simulation accuracy and efficiency.
• Bridge research and production deployment of advanced models.
• Collaborate with engineering, systems, and software teams on programmes.
