Job summary

Syngenta Group in the UK is seeking an AI/ML Technical Expert to advance predictive safety and multimodal biology across early research decisions. Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Computational Toxicology, Data Science, CS or related discipline.
• Experience integrating diverse biological data types and extracting meaningful insights from complex datasets.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with modern data science frameworks.
• Proven ability to develop, validate and apply AI/ML methods to biological questions with reproducible workflows.
• Experience in computational toxicology or predictive safety is highly desirable.
• Background in multimodal learning and knowledge-driven approaches is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with toxicologists, biologists, chemists, bioinformaticians, and data scientists to define priority predictive-safety questions.
• Lead development and evaluation of advanced AI/ML methodologies for safety-related modelling.
• Apply ML, AI, statistics and systems biology to extract biological signals from large datasets.
• Translate modelling outputs into actionable scientific insights for project decisions.
• Evaluate emerging AI and computational-biology methods for practical value.
• Communicate complex computational findings clearly to multidisciplinary audiences.
