Job summary

Head Resourcing Ltd is recruiting an experienced AI / Machine Learning Engineer Contractor in Glasgow on a hybrid basis. The initial contract is 3 months with the potential to extend, paying up to £500 per day Inside IR35.

The role focuses on accelerating delivery of innovative AI solutions across a Scottish Public Sector organisation, embedding within Data Engineering and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver intelligent, value-driving products and services.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy AI and ML solutions for an AI Accelerator programme.

• Implement responsible AI practices with governance, security, and privacy in mind.

AI / Machine Learning Engineer (Contract)

Glasgow / Hybrid

Initial 3-month contract (with potential to extend)

A Scottish Public Sector organisation that we've worked with for many years is currently looking to recruit an experienced AI / Machine Learning Engineer Contractor to help accelerate the delivery of innovative AI solutions across their organisation.

Embedded within the Data Engineering function & working with a great team, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing and deploying AI-powered products and services, transforming organisational data into intelligent solutions that drive efficiency, insight, and better decision-making.

Key Responsibilities in this Contract will include:

1. Designing, building and deploying AI and machine learning solutions supporting an AI Accelerator programme with the Client
2. Developing and optimising machine learning models, AI architectures, and intelligent automation capabilities.
3. Building and maintaining AI pipelines, model deployment processes, and MLOps capabilities.
4. Collaborating with Data Engineers and key business stakeholders to develop high-value AI use cases.
5. Implementing responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance with governance, security, and privacy standards.
6. Evaluating emerging AI technologies and recommending solutions that can deliver business value.

To be successful, we're seeking candidates with the following knowledge & experience:

• An extensive background in Data Engineering with recent & relevant experience working in a similar AI Engineer / ML Engineering role
• Proven experience delivering AI and machine learning solutions in enterprise / large Public Sector environments
• First class communication skills with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders, clearly translating business challenges into practical AI solutions, ensuring they're fully understood
• Strong Python skills and hands‑on experience with ML frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and prompt engineering.
• Strong understanding of MLOps, model deployment, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Experience with large datasets, cloud-based data platforms, and ideally Microsoft Azure.
