Job summary

Cranfield University is seeking a researcher to integrate four strands of AI research into a single flight-deck assistant and test it with airline pilots in the university’s research flight simulator. Qualifications

• PhD in aerospace engineering or related engineering subject, or equivalent research experience.
• Background in aircraft modelling and simulation, flight dynamics or flight control.
• Capable programmer in C#, C++ or Python; Unity experience is advantageous.
• Understanding of AI/ML to integrate and test AI software; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and test AI-powered flight-deck assistant within Cranfield’s Future Systems Simulator.
• Build the software platform and automated tests to run the system in real time.
• Set up flight scenarios, run simulator trials with pilots, publish results.
• Manage the simulator laboratory day-to-day operations.
