Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment in Southampton is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead Full Stack Developer to guide a team of AI-first software engineers. You will own technical delivery across frontend, backend, cloud and data, mentoring engineers and shaping an AI-first engineering culture.

This role blends coding with leadership, maintaining high quality, scalable solutions and close collaboration with product stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience in full stack software development across frontend, backend and infrastructure.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers and owning engineering delivery.
• Solid knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (React/Vue/Svelte).
• Backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Go or C#.
• Experience with relational databases, REST/GraphQL APIs and cloud infrastructure.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, containers and infrastructure-as-code.
• Ability to evaluate approaches, communicate trade-offs and drive architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership to a team of full stack engineers, setting direction and best practices.
• Mentor engineers, support growth and foster collaboration.
• Champion AI-first engineering across the team and workflows.
• Own technical delivery to ensure scalable, secure and high-quality solutions.
• Guide architectural and design decisions across frontend, backend, cloud and data.
• Lead discussions, code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Balance coding with leadership while delivering software.
